A commercial bus condutor popularly called 'Alaye' Segun Adamu has been arraigned before a Badagry Chief magistrate's court for allegedly stabbing a passenger,Abraham Adams, with a broken bottle in an arguement over a torn N100 note.

It was gathered that the 27-years old Adamu, who was arraigned on a one count charge of assault, stabbed the victim on the stomach on July 29, 2016, at Ajido Bus Stop in the Badagry area, following the argument that erupted between them when Adams gave the conductor a torn N100 note as his bus fare.
"The complainant who was a passenger in the bus, gave the accused a defaced N100 note as his transport fare and this resulted into an argument. In the middle of it, the accused carried a bottle, broke it and stabbed the complainant on his stomach," he said.
Inspector Uko said the offence contravened Section 171 of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
When the charge was read to him, Adamu pleaded not guilty and his counsel, Joseph Awuwu, pleaded with the court to grant him bail to the accused in liberal terms, promising that his client would not skip bail and would attend further court hearings.
Magistrate Abioldun Etti therefore, granted Adamu bail in the sum of N100, 000 and a surety who must provide evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government, while the case was adjourned till September 6 for further hearing.
